VenaSeal is an innovative non-thermic, minimally invasive treatment method for sealing off varicose veins using a special medical adhesive (cyanoacrylate). This procedure is a modern alternative to traditional surgical and laser methods. It provides patients with an effective and comfortable way to resolve their problems with varicose veins.

For whom the method is appropriate

The VenaSeal method is appropriate for patients who suffer from varicose veins. It is used both for aesthetic reasons and for alleviating symptoms such as pain, swelling and feelings of heaviness in the legs. It is ideal for people who want rapid recovery and minimisation of the discomfort associated with traditional surgical procedures.

 Course of the procedure

Treatment begins with an ultrasound examination, which precisely identifies the affected veins. A thin catheter is subsequently inserted into the affected vein under local anaesthesia. The special medical adhesive is applied via the catheter, thus sealing off the vein, after which blood flow is redirected to healthy veins, resulting in better overall venous circulation. The whole procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes and patients can usually go home after a brief period of rest.

Benefits of the procedure

  • Gentle procedure. VenaSeal requires only a small puncture, which minimises the risk of infection and leaves a minimal scar.
  • Rapid recovery: Most patients return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. It is not necessary to wear compression stockings.
  • No general anaesthesia needed: VenaSeal does not require the use of general anaesthesia, which reduces the risk associated with anaesthetic procedures.
  • Immediate effect: The vein is sealed immediately, which alleviates the symptoms of varicose veins.
  • Aesthetic improvement: The procedure significantly improves the appearance of the affected limbs.

After the procedure, compression therapy with stockings or bandages is not necessary.
